Calabar Marks 2026 World Humanitarian Day With Awareness Walk
Calabar joined the global community in commemorating the 2026 World Humanitarian Day with an awareness walk led by the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs in Cross River State, Hon Dr Helen Isamoh

The walk brought together humanitarian stakeholders, volunteers and members of the public to promote awareness of humanitarian action and highlight the importance of supporting vulnerable and underserved communities.

The event provided an opportunity to draw attention to the role of humanitarian workers and volunteers in responding to the needs of people affected by crises, displacement, poverty and other difficult circumstances.
Speaking through the activities of the day, the cross River state hon commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs and poverty alleviation, Dr Helen Isamoh reaffirmed the importance of compassion, solidarity and collective responsibility in building a society where no one is left behind.

According to Dr. Helen, living for others should be a priority, as true humanity is reflected in our willingness to care, support and make a difference in the lives of those around us.
The awareness walk also served as a platform to encourage greater public participation in humanitarian initiatives and strengthen collaboration between government, humanitarian organisations and communities.

The 2026 World Humanitarian Day activities in Calabar reinforced a simple but powerful message “humanitarian service is not only the responsibility of government or organisations” but something every individual and community can contribute to.
Every act of kindness, no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.
