The NATURAL LEADER of CRS-NORTH, High Chief Higgins Peters, carried out an extraordinary act that I will never forget.
What I have written here is merely a small fraction of High Chief HIGGINS’s contributions to the community, but the act that touched my heart was his instant resolution of a particularly pressing issue for a lady struggling with debts.
On that momentous day (20TH DECEMBER 2025), we were all occupied, including High Chief Higgins Peters, who was actively engaged in ensuring that no one departed from his compound without receiving something for Christmas
At about past 9PM, a mother with her baby came to me seeking help, not for financial aid but to arrange a meeting with High Chief. Knowing High Chief’s heavy schedule from ensuring everyone received their share of rice, money, and cows, and also from receiving dignitaries who came for Christmas celebrations, I questioned the reason for her request.
She informed me with tears in her eyes that her childbirth in June was via cesarean section and her husband had taken a loan for that purpose and the accumulated interest is increasing rapidly due to their inability to repay it.
I promised to help her and suggested that she pray for High Chief to come outside again, assuring her that if she saw him, her problems would likely be resolved.
It was also necessary for me to liaise with my darling friend cum chairman of NYC-CRS, Comrade Francis Offionor, to standby and also help the young lady and he kindly consented
Luckily for us, the revered High Chief HIGGINS PETERS came out that night and I hurriedly requested the lady to tell Him her problems.
Promptly, within 60 seconds, the High Chief directed Hon Christopher Ogar to immediately credit the lady. The lady and her mother, who was present, broke down in tears uncontrollably
That day was the most fulfilling day of my 2025 because I was able to contribute my 1% in assisting someone in serious need without spending a kobo because there was High Chief Higgins Peters
I have never exhibited FAITH like I did that day given that I kept assuring the lady that if she sees High Chief her problems would be solved
