Chief Henry Bassey delivers potable water to the residents of Eminekpon Community in EKUREKU.
The Eminekpon community in Ekureku, Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State, has received timely relief from Ovai Henry Bassey’s intervention, which has successfully alleviated the community’s chronic potable water shortage.
A few weeks ago, Ovai Henry Bassey’s attention was drawn to the unsatisfactory condition of water access in the community, after a video surfaced showing residents forced to use unsafe water sources, exposing them to significant health risks from waterborne diseases.
Disturbed by the situation, he swiftly sent a team to the community for a rapid assessment and to explore immediate crisis mitigation strategies.
In a notable achievement, the project team’s intervention has produced results, successfully locating water in the community and representing a vital move towards ensuring the people of Eminekpon have access to safe and clean drinking water.
Ovai Henry Bassey has not only tackled the water challenge but also installed solar-powered streetlights in the community, significantly enhancing security, safety, and nighttime visibility for residents.
Speaking to newsmen in his country home, Chief Henry reaffirmed his commitment to addressing urgent community needs while laying the foundation for long-term development.
He stated that access to basic potable water is essential for all communities, describing the intervention as a vital element in the broader strategy to improve rural communities’ living conditions.
The residents of Eminekpon also extended their appreciation for the prompt intervention, characterizing it as a vital lifeline and significant relief following years of adversity.
